Sunkist is a growers cooperative that was started in 1893 and still exists today. Farmers retain control over their produce and the cooperative is used for efficient distribution and advertising. They used wooden fruit crates for many years and soon started putting paper labels on the ends of the cartons. This artwork could be original for a specific farm but was more often duplicated for many farms. There are quite a few Sunkist labels still in existence and these are some of the examples.
